John Lancaster
I need to replace the tape that seals the plastic faring around the main wheel struts, where they connect with the fuselage. It stretches like electrical tape, but it's white and a lot wider. Could not find anything like it on Sporty's or Aircraft Spruce. Any suggestions? Tom Baker
1 1/2" Bowles tape is what I use. It takes a little patience and time to have it come out nice.
John Lancaster
thanks Tom. Just Googled but unfortunately all I could come up with was a scandal relating to Camilla Parker Bowles. Can you tell me where I might find Bowles tape (the non-scandalous variety)? Thanks again
Roger Lee
https://www.cumulus-soaring.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=54 Some use 1.5" tape here, but I use 1" tape on the whole plane. Just easier to work with and does the same job. Either way I makes no difference.

Animosity2k
Any good videos on how to apply the tape? When I do fairings I need to cut like 4 seperate pieces to work them around the curved wheel pant. I notice my AP does it w/ just one or two pieces. When I try to bend the tape around the shape I get a bunch of wrinkles...
Tom Baker
Practice, patience, and practice.
Roger Lee
Like Tom says. Patients. I may have 6 pieces of tape in short sections. This eliminates all wrinkles and makes the tape lie flat and not under any turning corner stress. Then I take a razor blade and trim around the outside edges where the tape edges stick out and make a nice round application by getting rid of the excess tape edges sticking out. Then the application is nice neat and looking good. That area doesn't care how many pieces it takes and the tape is straight and doesn't do corners near as well as it does laying flat and straight.
