My CTLSi is hangared for nine months of the year but lives outside during the summer, when I relocate. Two concerns related to water intrusion:

1. After heavy rains I've noticed that water has collected in the cavity below the rudder, around the elevator-cable mount. Not worried about freezing in the summer but I'm concerned about corrosion and perhaps other issues. Should I siphon it out before I fly? Is there any way to prevent the problem, perhaps by means of a makeshift cover?

2. Water also leaks into the cockpit. After a rainstorm I've found as much as a quarter inch of water on the hatrack and a similar amount soaking the carpet under the rudder pedals. Don't see it anywhere else and it doesn't appear to threaten avionics, etc, but I am getting tired of bailing out the cockpit after every storm. Is there anything to be done?

As always, thanks in advance for any help.

thanks Sandpiper. Should have mentioned that I do use a Bruce's cover, though it doesn't seem to keep the water out, I think because it enters through the hole under the wing near the elevator. Maybe there's a cover that would deal with this? If so I haven't found one....
