Big Flapper
Does anyone know of an "EASY" method to replace a broken hinge on the cockpit floor hatch?
Tom Baker
I don't think there is an easy method.
Big Flapper
What would be the "HARD" method?
Tom Baker
The hinge is bonded in the structure, so it would require composite and paint work. I had one that had one broken hinge, and I ignored it until the airplane went away. The door was still operable, but I had to be careful with it. Big Flapper
Thanks, probably will be my choice too. Just a "New" plane to me so I'm looking at all of the quirks.
FlyingMonkey
You might be able to attach a small piece of piano hinge to the door and to the surface the door sits in (using rivets, epoxy, whatever) and effectively replace the hinge. If you are careful with how the hinge lays it could be hidden from view so nobody notices unless they open the door. Just spitballing here, I'd have to take a careful look to see if this is really viable.
procharger
You could use some RC airplane hinges they are small and strong there are thin plastic ones with a steel pin or there are some that are like stiff cloth type that are strong also they are used for ailerons and elevators med. CA glue with activator will set right away.
