Big Flapper
I'm thinking about using a motorcycle/atv lift to raise the main gear, has anyone else used this? If so what padding was used and do you just position the lift directly under the main gear legs? Thanks Tom
Tom Baker
I just lift the wing and have someone slide a ladder under to hold it up. I have foam on top of the ladder to protect the wing. On some I have a bar that slides in the back of the axle and I use a floor jack with them. Al Downs
Are you trying to just lift the gear up to work on tires and brakes or to remove the gear leg/
Big Flapper
I was looking for something to do both. My neighbor has a motorcycle jack and it looked possible to use it.
Roger Lee
You can put a scissor jack under the axle knuckle, but that isn't the most stable. Put a 6' ladder with a thin pad up top under the wing next to the tie down ring. Not on it. This area has been beefed up for the tie down. You can also use an engine hoist with a thick pad under it. I use this with a tire on top to protect the wing.
Al Downs
If you want to lift a leg to work on tires or brakes, the best way is to use a stand like I made. No tools needed. This is for a CTLS, don't know if the CTSW is the same. You can easily put the leg up and then take it off with no tools. I can send a pic with measurements if you want. Put the pin in the hole in the back side of the leg, lift up on the end of the wing and it automatically rotates down to hold tire off of the ground. When you want to take it off you simply grab one leg and rotate it off. Really simple.
Big Flapper
Thanks for all the suggestions on gear leg lifting. Al I have your drawings from an earlier post, unless dimensions have changed I'm OK. I did note the change to 1/2 inch bolt. Thanks again all Tom
