Isham
I thought I had my regulator fixed after crimping the connectors a little tighter, but I was wrong. Over voltage problem came back. This time I think I found the problem. The B+ connector has two 14 GA wires (I think they are 14) going into one connector that is probably designed for one wire. The old connector had about 1/2 of each of the wire strands missing and the portion still connected was corroded. I was trying to install a new connector but found it almost impossible to put both wires into the connector. Any ideas of a better solution? Can I get a splice made for two 14 GA at one end then use one 14 GA to the regulator?
Isham
I noticed MC has this splice available: https://www.mcmaster.com/electrical-cable-splices/for-wire-gauge~14/wire-connection-type~crimp-on/splice-type~multi-way/
Anticept
I would suggest splicing the two 14 gauge wires to a 12 gauge and that going into the regulator. I never realized they're using 14 gauge wire, which is rated for 15 amps, not 20 (regulator can put out about 17.5-18 amps peak).
Isham
Maybe it is 12 gauge, but my wire stripper needed the 14 gauge hole to strip the ends. Could be my wire stripper was not made in the USA!
