Anticept Posted July 13, 2021 Report Posted July 13, 2021 Finished an inspection on a 2012 CTLS. Oil is leaking from the water pump witness hole. Cleaned the area and was in the middle of doing the 5 minute run test, and we didn't even get it warmed up before more oil started dripping. I don't have the time or the tools to do this job, so I am looking to refer it to someone. Home base is Columbus, Ohio. Quote
okent Posted July 14, 2021 Report Posted July 14, 2021 Rex Johnson is very good but he's at KRVS in Tulsa. His son Jeremiah, aerospace engineer, is working with him now as well and almost finished getting his A&P. I've seen planes come in from all over North America. Quote
Anticept Posted July 14, 2021 Author Report Posted July 14, 2021 The aircraft won't make it that far. I know who he is though. Thanks! Quote
Tom Baker Posted July 14, 2021 Report Posted July 14, 2021 I'm like you. I don't have the time right now, and I don't have the specialty tools either. Quote
GrassStripFlyBoy Posted July 14, 2021 Report Posted July 14, 2021 Midwest Sky Sports in Caro Michigan is a Rotax heavy repair facility, have never used them. Building a lot of Sling aircraft there, probably one of the closer options Quote
DHeal Posted July 15, 2021 Report Posted July 15, 2021 For water pump seals, see Figure 1 and Paragraph 1.5 "Note" at: https://legacy.rotaxowner.com/si_tb_info/serviceinfo/si912001.pdf Quote
Anticept Posted July 26, 2021 Author Report Posted July 26, 2021 We cleaned up the engine a second time and repeated the test before work began. Bone dry this time. It technically passes the test but I told them keep a close eye on it. I refreshed my memory with videos and the manual; even if the seal gave, there's not much chance for oil to puke, the shaft and gearset fit snugly. So i signed it off. Quote
