Tom Baker
The one on the left is the new one. The one on the right has been used over and over, and probably over tightened as well.
Roger Lee
Butttttt, did it leak? Inquiring minds want to know.
Tom Baker
No, it wasn't leaking, but it was on the lock pin plug. That was the best place it could have been considering. My question is, what does it say about the mechanic who decided they knew better and chose not to follow the maintenance manual. The airplane that came off of had other serious issues that were directly related to the mechanic not following procedures and best practices. Roger Lee
Was it crushed or just the wrong one?
Tom Baker
4 hours ago, Roger Lee said: Was it crushed or just the wrong one? Smashed flat. I think it was the correct one, just not replaced when removed and repeatedly over torqued. I have seen worse, but no pictures. I had one that was smashed so much it wouldn't come off the plug without being cut and twisted.
