David Silchman Posted July 25, 2021 Report Posted July 25, 2021 Has anybody considered the devaluation of a FD-CT that was turned into an E-LSA? Experimental can't be used in a flight school setting. That must limit the usefulness and the resale value. Shouldn't it? I'm trying to figure the asking price of a 2005 CT-SW. Owner died and I volunteered to help the estate sell it. It was converted into E-LSA in 2017 because some mechanic wouldn't sign off an annual and insisted the Rotax engine needed an overhaul because it's over 5 years old (!) Quote
Ed Cesnalis Posted July 25, 2021 Report Posted July 25, 2021 Prices on Barnstormers are through the roof. List if for $65k and see what it fetches. Quote
FlyingMonkey Posted July 25, 2021 Report Posted July 25, 2021 Advantages/Disadvantages of ELSA balance out, I don't think there is any "market discount" for them. I talked to two DARs before my conversion and they both said they have seen no difference in value/sales price. It all just depends on what the buyer is looking for. "can't be used in a flight school" means nothing to somebody that doesn't want to use it for training others, and "can do your own maintenance" means nothing for somebody who doesn't want to do their own maintenance. Pick your poison. Quote
