GrassStripFlyBoy Posted August 7, 2021 Report Posted August 7, 2021 A friend sent this pic earlier this morning, he's on a road trip and passed it somewhere in his travels. I'm impressed. Quote
FlyingMonkey Posted August 7, 2021 Report Posted August 7, 2021 Very cool, but why not just take a flying tour instead of an RV tour? I'm lazy, putting that airplane back together every time I wanted to fly it means I would probably not fly it much. Not to mention the hazards that poor CT is subjected to rolling hundreds or thousands of miles on the highway...not ever covered up. Borderline CT abuse! Quote
Skunkworks85 Posted August 8, 2021 Report Posted August 8, 2021 What? Why? This does not seam to make sense, Unless they are snowbirds or something, But then would it just be easier to hire a ferry Pilot? Also why is the baggage hatch missing? Quote
sandpiper Posted August 9, 2021 Report Posted August 9, 2021 I have towed vehicles “4-down” behind my motor homes for over 20 years so I know what this can do to the vehicle. I would not want to tow my plane like this very far, only on good roads, and never in the rain. Quote
Tip Posted August 9, 2021 Report Posted August 9, 2021 Don’t you think that the plane was being towed in from somewhere and the RV just happened to be the tow vehicle? Quote

I don't know why you'd disassemble and tow when you could just ferry it. It doesn't look like salvage. But who knows? Still a cool pic of course! That airplane is owned by an LLC out of Omaha, Nebraska and has a valid AW cert. Quote
Tom Baker Posted August 9, 2021 Report Posted August 9, 2021 The trailer looks really well thought out and specialized for hauling a CT. I'm also pretty sure that Airtime has a big motorhome like that. Maybe it was being picked up for repair. Quote
airhound Posted August 9, 2021 Report Posted August 9, 2021 Right! It’s not loaded for fun. Looks like the fuselage had to be hoisted up over the wings and set down. It’s headed to the shop. Quote

I thought the same thing, but their is black/ light blue and Chrome ( have some pics of it in the background.) Quote

airhound Posted August 9, 2021 Report Posted August 9, 2021 Hard to see thru the ladder but looks like the gears are a little taller tires maybe on slight ramps to elevate for the wings, stabilator and cushion. Or not. What else is special? Guessing baggage hatches/latches could get damaged somehow from absorbing shock bouncing down the road. Quote
