Vic Posted April 3, 2023 Report Posted April 3, 2023 Hey all, Iv been experimenting with some new parts for my faded CT stickers in the cockpit. Thinking about using a 3d printed with some black PLA plastics and filling in the numbers and text with some bright white paint. CNC machine is not great at cutting these finer text blocks out well. Anyone else having issues with stickers falling off and fading out? Looking for some alternatives? Who would be interested in something like these. Quote
Vic Posted April 4, 2023 Author Report Posted April 4, 2023 More parts designed and counting. Trial runs with PLA plastic for now. I plan on using black ABS, its tougher than PLA and can withstand the UV and elements better. I am filling in the numbers/symbols in with bright white epoxy/resin or acrylics. I think the stenciled fonts look sharp, but easy to change. Quote
Jim Meade Posted April 5, 2023 Report Posted April 5, 2023 Just curious how the letters would look in vertical rather than horizontal format for the controls that go fore and aft? Quote
Vic Posted April 5, 2023 Author Report Posted April 5, 2023 Ill draft that up and share. Good idea! Quote
Chuck Posted April 5, 2023 Report Posted April 5, 2023 Here’s a font suggestion: look up Futura bold. Apparently that’s what they used for all the panels in the Apollo spacecraft. Im working on laser engraving some new instrument panels using Futura. Quote
