wlfpckrs
On my way back from the Outer Banks of NC over the July 4th weekend, some smoke from a wild fire had blown into my route of flight. VFR flight was possible, but visibility was very marginal for about 15-20 minutes. Any effect on my engine, air filter, or anything else?
Roger Lee
I have been through a lot of smoke. You should not have had any issue. There is not enough particles in the smoke up there and the engine burn only really cared about the oxygen.
coppercity
We have had our share of fires down here in AZ and we fly in the smoke often. I did notice my air filter was really dirty after 50hrs so you may check it more often. We flew up to Phoenix Sky Harbor the other day and the air was so dirty the leading edges of our LS were brown when we landed! No problems at all with the plane but I would bet my air filter is filthy.
