Hi Folks:

Has anyone ever had this happen? The spring was fine but the lower receiving attachment split and the spring worked its way through the split. Then no carb it goes to idle. Had some damage to the nose gear and probably some other damage from a bounced landing. I bent the receiver back into place and will reinforce or replace that piece after the insurance company takes a look everything.

There's a tiny white nylon bushing that's supposed to go in the spring bracket  attach point to prevent metal-on-metal contact.  Don't jump on me, this pic was taken before I replaced the drip tray, springs, etc.

Those nylon bushings SUCK. The heat makes them brittle.

True, and getting them in and out, and getting the spring in without popping the bushing out, are tasks for saints.

More like an ELSA fix.

Tack weld it.

You still need a bushing or its just going to happen again. Or it might wear through the spring too.
