Gray Edwards
I have a 2006 CTSW. At low speeds and nose down AoA, the speed readout drops precipitously. Typically when flying the pattern and turning from base to final, the speed readouts will drop to 30s, even low 30s and once into the 20s. Both speed gauges drop, so I know it is not the gauges. Again, it only seems to happen at low speed and nose down AoA. Any thoughts what could be causing this?

Tom Baker
Has the airplane had recent maintenance, such as a wing pull?

opticsguy
When I had water in the pitot tube, the indicated airspeed would drop from 40 to 0 almost instantly. Very easy to drain.
Gray Edwards
Thanks all. Flap settings - It happens at any of them, including 0. No to a recent wing pull or other maintenance around either (pitot or static) of the lines. I'm thinking either water or leak, but just wanted to get some additional ideas.
