Anticept Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 You can sign up for emails from rotaxowner.com and they send the SBs right to you. Whats This About? Rotax has released a new service bulletin for a limited range of 912, 912S, 914 and 912 iS engines. How Does This Affect Me? If you have a 912, 912S, 914 or 912iS engine, then it might be affected by this bulletin, and may require removal and replacement of the propeller shaft. What do I do about it? If you have a 912, 912S, 914 or 912iS engine, then you or your maintenance provider should download the applicable bulletin (UL or Certified, depending on your engine) and check to see if your engine is in its list of affected engine serial numbers. If it is, then you must execute this SB within the timeframe specified in Section 1.5 "Compliance". NOTE: Refer to the Certified version of the SB for the full procedure instructions! For expanded instructions on how to remove and install your gearbox, you can watch the Rotax-Owner gearbox removal video by clicking on this link. Download Certified SBDownload UL SB Quote

BTW, the link from rotax-owner.com for 'engine registration' takes you to flyrotax: https://www.flyrotax.com/p/service/engine-registration (edit, it says my 7-digit serial is invalid, wtf) If I understand this thread on rotax-owner correctly, it's on new engines (2022 or newer)? Rotax's serial number system has always been strange and there's probably a service instruction out there somewhere about how it works. Quote

I just had a gearbox overhaul and had the prop shaft replaced due to wear. I'm really hoping this SB doesn't bite me. I reached out to Leading Edge (they did the work) to ask them about the prop shaft serial number. Other than that, is the SN visible on the shaft somewhere without disassembly? Quote
