First Annual - need advice

Hello,

I'm doing my first annual inspection. By the books.

I've looked in Maint manual (rev 7) and in Parts manual (Release 5) and can't find

some things. Sorry for the newbie questions!

1) Where are wing drain holes?

2) Where are static balance weights on ailerons?

2a) Where are the drain holes in the ailerons? I see small holes in the ends.

3) Where is the static balance weight for the rudder?

4) per para 4.2.2.4.3 (5), one must pull the strut fairings to examine the

gear legs. And thus must bleed brakes. Am I reading this correctly?

5) Aeroshell grease 6 is specified for nose strut. Is it also used in main wheels?

6) Is it advisable to swap main tires to equalize wear? Inside becomes outside,

and rotation direction is preserved.

Do you think I should ask tech support @ FDUSA about these issues?

I know where the weights are on the trim tab.

This inspection has been educational so far. Found a left-over tie wrap, a

servo that was not safety wired, loose flap bearing. Also discovered the aileron controls have

a huge number of pushrods. I also know what a 'mixer' is , the thing that droops the ailerons

when flaps are lowered.

Oh - has anyone taken the FD course(s) from Lockwood? Does it cover the items in the manual

that say 'Flight design specific training required.' ?

Thankx, Bill

Hi Bill, a guess for 1 and 2a...Perhaps the drain holes are all those perforations throughout the surface areas. Please advise if FD confirms that. Also, the lower vertical fin drain hole is important for drainage/but you've found that one. Doug
