mocfly Posted August 28, 2011 Report Share Posted August 28, 2011 Is the CHT probe supposed to bottom out in the pocket with the tip of the probe contacting the bottom of the pocket it screws into?I measured mine against the depth of the pocket and it doesn't contact the bottom of the pocket. Roger Lee Posted August 28, 2011 Report Share Posted August 28, 2011 Hi Chris, The probes only go in so far. Once you screw it in and it seats on its shoulder that is a far as it goes. It only measure the metal temp and not the coolant so it only has to touch the metal Cyl. wall. I have never seen one come out on its own. They are really torqued in place. I am used the bayonet style t/c and was a little confused how it measured the metal temp when the probe body doesn't contact anything.
