Admin2
FYI from the forum Safety Officer, Hand propping. Tragic and funny. Never ever try to hand prop a 912, it can bite and ruin the rest of your life. The 912 is very different from a GA aircraft Continental or Lycoming with a low compression and straight drive. The compression at 10.5: 1 and the gearbox can and will cause a kickback and take fingers off. The other huge difference is that you may never get it started because you need approximately 240 rpm to have the coils fire the plugs (no mags like a GA), but the kickback can ruin an otherwise fine day. CT4ME
BUT...while it may not be smart or safe... It looks like it CAN be done... ...for the record, this is an 80 hp... Without a slip clutch
