Roger Lee
The steering control rod adjustment is usually used to correct a taxi steering pull to one side or the other. For example: if the plane pulls to the right when taxiing then the rod end on the right may be lengthened one turn or the left side may be shortened one turn. When loosening or tightening the front steering control rod retaining nut you must keep the control rod from turning. If you cause this to loosen then you have to go into the lower center console and blindly hold the other nut while someone out front tightens the rod back up. What a PITA. So to keep this from happening just use a pair of vise grips to hold the steering control rod to loosen the nut or tighten it. To tighten it it gets 80 in/lbs of torque. The steering control rod retaining screws should have Loctited with 243 medium strength.
